Versar Awarded Biological Laboratory Project in Texas

Wednesday October 15, 9:20 am ET SPRINGFIELD, Va., Oct. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --

VERSAR, Inc. (Amex: VSR - News) announced today that it has been awarded a task order valued at approximately $750,000 from the U.S. Air Force for the construction of an Epidemic Outbreak Surveillance Advanced Diagnostics Laboratory at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. The laboratory will support the Air Force Surgeon General and Lackland AFB by utilizing advanced diagnostics for real- time identification for both common pathogens and bio-warfare agents. Completion date is June 30, 2004.

The Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) in San Antonio, Texas awarded Versar the task order under its Environmental Restoration and Construction Contract ("ENRAC"). The Company previously announced its master ENRAC award on May 22, 2001. The contract will continue to provide environmental remediation and construction activities at Air Force and other Federal installations.
