Agreement With Kobe Steel to Respond to Chemical Munitions Cleanup Needs

SPRINGFIELD, Va., Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- VERSAR, INC. (Amex: VSR -
news) announced today that the Company has signed an agreement with
Kobe Steel Ltd., of Kobe, Japan to participate in expansion of business
activities related to the demilitarization of chemical weapons abandoned
in the Peoples Republic of China, and in Japan. Versar recently completed
a successful, safely executed project with Kobe Steel Ltd. in Hokkaido,
Japan involving demilitarization of chemical munitions recovered from
Lake Kussharo.
Versar and Kobe
Steel Ltd. will collaborate on expansion of the chemical warfare munitions
demilitarization program that is expected to continue to grow in the
Peoples Republic of China, and in Japan. Versar will provide monitoring
and analysis equipment for chemical munitions, provide laboratory support
and field analysis work, and support the design, construction and operation
of an analysis facility for chemical warfare materials. VERSAR will
also provide on-site, portable instrumentation to detect and monitor
chemical warfare agents during the demilitarization. Versar's GEOMET
Technologies subsidiary will provide chemical warfare expertise to the
program.
